Salutations! It’s Hydrocephalus Awareness Month!

Heyyo all my fellow Internet Explorers! It’s a lovely day to be aware! Which I will make you all today You see, basically Hydrocephalus is a neurological disorder that is pretty common. Last I checked, One in every 500 children are born with it in the US alone. Including yours truly. But I’m definitely way better off than most however. I do get headaches at times and there’s this small dented spot in my head and a scar covered by my hair. I also have to be careful to avoid taking blows to the head or risk needing surgery yet again.

My Story with Hydrocephalus

I have had a few surgeries on this old thing called my Shunt system. It is more specifically called a ventriculoperitoneal or VP Shunt. What Hydrocephalus basically is, is a build up of cerebrospinal fluid or CSF caused by any means, either injury or birth defect. Mine personally was by birth. I was transported from one hospital to another at only 14 hours old for surgery in a better equipped hospital with the then most reliable surgeon in the country I live. He has since passed away, and all I can say is thank you for saving me, wherever you are now in the great cosmos of the unknown.
